About Me

Welcome! I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker who enjoys self-exploration, self-empowerment and the process of healing through connection with ourselves and others.

I have enjoyed working in both community mental health and private practice, collaborating with clients around issues that include depression, anxiety, trauma, relationships, grief, and more. I was initially trained in a solution-focused approach that also honors family systems, attachment theory and trauma-informed therapy. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was certified as a yoga teacher and a reiki master/teacher, in addition to training for many years in meditation, mindfulness and movement. Each of these practices has influenced my work as a therapist and helped to form a strong foundation of cultivating self-awareness, self-compassion and the ability to be present with what is as a way to create change.

Healing trauma has become a large part of my practice and interest. I view trauma as including a wide variety of adverse life experiences that can keep us limited, stuck, hypervigilant, and confused. I am a Somatic Experiencing Practitioner and Training Assistant in ongoing Somatic Experiencing trainings, often using this approach as my primary modality and framework. Somatic Experiencing, developed by Peter Levine, includes awareness of our physiology, body sensations and nervous system, in addition to our emotions and thoughts, to move towards renegotiation of trauma and overall nervous system regulation. Feel free to ask any questions about this work, or you can find more information about the practice at www.traumahealing.org.

I am also a trained EMDR practictioner (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), which is a integrative technique that helps to reprocess trauma so that the memories/experiences/beliefs are adapted in a new way that is less distressing. Although I don't primarily use EMDR in my practice, it is part of my training and toolbox.

Beyond treating clients in an individual process, I have presented workshops for other clinical professionals on the use of mindfulness and body-centered practices in therapy and continue to train in these areas. Most recently, I am training in the use of supportive touch in the treatment of trauma and nervous system dysregulation.

I have an interactive style in therapy and like to collaborate with the client to develop the unique approach that will work for them on their journey of healing and transformation.

Let me know how I can help or if you have any questions.
